Here we go

This morning Lori has a 7 am meeting, Ty has a summer tutor appointment at 8, Mojo goes to daycare, I have a call at 9 and we need to leave by noon. There’s more but that’s a start. The news just said I-70 is closed at Eagle Vail due to a car fire. Need to know which direction asap!

We’ll be going strong until 10 tonight when dinner in Aspen at L’Hosteria wraps up. Yesterday was full of laundry, a Costco trip and numerous calls. This morning we also need to get everyone packed. The boys say they’re all done but we’d better check to make sure. I guess we could just trust or hope they have all they need. I think we’ll take a little horseback ride tomorrow into the high country. Otherwise we’ll go for a hike or maybe go fly fishing. Then again we might just sleep in, ha!

Let’s see, what’s on the news. Well parents might get fined if their kid is a bully, illegals from Ebola countries are being dropped off in cities, including Denver, without being screened or tested, (that’s smart!), the Dems are up in arms cause Trump said he’d listen to dirt on candidates from other countries which is pretty hypocritical when they funded the dossier during the election to get dirt on Trump from foreign countries, and not to be outdone by California, our idiot Governor is signing illegal laws that make zero sense giving more rights to illegals than citizens. Hopefully he’ll be recalled as there’s a big effort to get him gone which can legally start July 8th. Oh well, just another crazy day in our new PC World.

Time to hit the shower so I can drop Lori and pick up a package. I found a case of wooden strike anywhere matches on line and snatched them up as they’ve been “outlawed” for years. Just another casualty of our overreactive society. Luckily I saw this coming 10 years ago and bought a bunch when Home Depot still sold them but you can never have enough. They’re good to have. Have a great day, watch your top knot, lock and load and God Bless.

No sleep

Jag was gone yesterday from 8:30 in the morning until about 1 am. Oh to be 17, ha. Meanwhile Ty was busy himself but home most of the day. He did go to a movie, Godzilla, at 4. These kids have the life.

Lori and I were working away. I have calls today at 9, 10 and then 11. I’m going to try to go to the gym at 7 but that only gives me 15 minutes to get ready. We’ll see if I make it. I might have to wait until this afternoon.

Tomorrow we’re off to Aspen. It’ll be fun but we do have three parties to go to, 2 dinners and one lunch. Throw in some visits with a bunch of friends and we’ll be busy. The dogs go to daycare today as Mojo has a salon appointment and Harley will be playing away. We’re lucky as they both have fun at their homes away from home.

I guess Tom and Ali’s yard is almost done, can’t wait to see it. Lots of shootings in Denver, nice. How about the U.S. Women’s Soccer team running up the score in a 13-0 game against Thailand. Guess they were pretty classless. You know what they say, act like you’ve been there before, hmm. Lots going on with politics but no point in memorializing the Dems stupidity. They still just can’t accept that Trump won. Of course he doesn’t help with his constant tweeting and comments. What a time we live in. Get ready as it’s only going to get crazier. God Bless.

Summer of Fall

It’s cool this morning and if you didn’t know the date, you’d wonder if we’re coming into summer or into fall. Good news is there’s not any bugs or mosquitos out.

This morning I’m off for a quick turn to Denver, Ty has Deb (his tutor) and Jag is going to play basketball with some guys and one girl. To be fair, Lexi, the girl, is pretty tall. My right eye lid is all puffy as something bit me a few days ago. I’ve been taking Benedryl trying to get the swelling down, ugh.

Lori is off to work as usual and yesterday she had a girl quit who found a job managing a dental practice. At least she gave 5 weeks notice.

Ty and I need to leave in an hour so time to get moving. Won’t be long until we’re headed to Aspen. Hope everyone is well, GB.

Busy busy

Here we go, it’s going to be a busy two weeks. Starting today we’ll be getting ready for leaving on Thursday. Today Jag has a trainer at the gym from some workouts we never used up 2 years ago, Ty has some homework for his tutor tomorrow and I need to prepare for Thursday. Lori of course has three busy days before we leave too.

I need to try to get the air conditioner fixed today. Not sure if it’s a breaker or what as the fan in the house works but not on the unit. We’ll know more today. It’s 7 now as we slept in a bit.

It was cool last night, just right. I think it’s going to be a good week with a few afternoon showers which are normal. After this week we have Andrea in concert here next week. Then Jag has an internship at the clinic which is a cool thing. I think there’s like 12 kids that were chosen. They had to write an essay and then be chosen by their science teacher. There will be kids from all over.

Here’s a funny thing. Jag came home from Emma’s last night with a giant hickey on his neck. He tried to cover it up with makeup but that didn’t work. Lori first said something when she picked him up and Emma heard her and laughed. When he was home I said, what’s that and he said “I burned myself with a curling iron” which of course made no sense and he instantly laughed too when we did realizing that wasn’t believable. He said to put it in the blog so he can read it years down the road and get a laugh, ha.

Time to go. We’re cutting down on the gym and Harley’s daycare to save money. I’d like to cancel cable too as it’s too expensive but we’ll see. Have a great day and God Bless.

Big water

Lori and I made it to Aspen, Jag thinks he did well on his ACT, Ty had fun in town and all is good. Driving to Aspen you go through Glenwood Canyon and you can see how much water is in the Colorado River. Two days ago a guy died right here in town when his raft flipped in the Eagle River. With over 500% snowpack this year, all that water has to go somewhere when it melts and the rivers are running high. We could have high water all summer with all the snow we had. Only time will tell.

Both boys were in town until I picked them up at 9. They hung out with friends as the town is packed and the GoPro Games are a big deal. They’ll probably go back to town today.

Lori’s hair turned out great. It’s always a crap shoot going to a new stylist. She was also done in about half the time as usual and it was a bit cheaper than Denver. Looks like we have a winner!

We have a big week coming up with Aspen Food and Wine. We leave Thursday and will come home Sunday. We had lunch yesterday at Clark’s which is a fairly new restaurant decked out like it’s in Nantucket. It’s obviously seafood and was really really good. We also dropped wine at Ralph Lauren and Kemo Sabe who will both be pouring our products during Food and Wine. Sam, one of the guys from Polo gave me a bag of old books of matches as I have this vintage match holder Chris there gave me from 1904. It’s sterling silver with a buffalo head on it and back then, 100 years or so ago, people would carry their match books in these cases. I joked I’ll need to start smoking weed again so I have a reason to carry it. Anyhow the match books are from 50 years ago or so and many are from Las Vegas. It reminds me of when we were kids as our parents would always bring back matches from their trips and we had a match drawer which was just full of matches. Tom and Robi know which drawer I’m talking about. You could look through them and see where Mom and Dad had gone. It’s always good to have a lighter or some matches on you. Years ago I bought a few cases of the old wooden Strike Anywhere matches which they no longer make. Remember lighting them on your jeans or zipper? For some reason our PC society decided they’re too dangerous for us now. Not sure why.

That’s it, nice and cool today and we’re about to head to the gym. Lori is cleaning in the kitchen and got up and fed the dogs so I could lay around for a few extra minutes. What a good wife, ha, God Bless.

ACT and Aspen

This morning Jag has his ACT test. The kids nowadays have tutors and take these tests multiple times until they get a score they want. When I picked Jag up from the library yesterday, I told him when I was a kid, we didn’t study for it, didn’t have tutors and took the test once and that was it. How things have changed.

My trip to Aspen was good and I’m going back today as I have a few more details to work out before next week. I managed to get my hair cut and luckily found a great place. Lori was getting her hair colored here today but I convinced her to come with me and get it done there as they seem to be really good.

Ty was in town for the GoPro Games and Jag and I picked him up on the way home from the library. He’ll stay here this morning with the dogs. It’s a bit cooler today but nice. Afternoon storms are the norm for this time of year. Things should settle down by July.

Time to take the dogs up the hill so that’s it. Jag needs to leave in 75 minutes at 7:30 and then Lori and I will leave at 8:30. Have a great day, take care and God Bless.

Off to Aspen

Today I’m in Aspen. I need to leave around 7:15 and should be back a bit before 2. I have a couple meetings for Food and Wine which is next week. Ty spent the night at Sonny’s and Jag was studying for the ACT test Saturday. Lori’s head is pounding and she needs a massage. I had one set for her at 5 pm yesterday but she couldn’t make it.

We had a good rain storm last night which cooled things down as it was in the low 80’s yesterday. I think it’s going to be cooler this weekend. Wonder how Tom and Ali’s backyard is coming. I might be in Denver tomorrow after Jag’s test and if so will stop by to see the progress. They are digging away on our house. We’re not sure how much they’ve done but know they’re on it.

Time to get moving so I can get on the road. Hope everyone is doing well. GB.

75 years ago today

June 6th, 1944, D Day, the day the allied troops landed in Normandy in the largest sea to land assault in history. Many people wonder what the “D” in D Day stands for but it actually doesn’t stand for anything. it was just a ‘D” according to the Army much like the kids have A, B or C days at school. Anyhow it was a day that’ll never be forgotten by those of us that took history when they actually taught history in school. Not sure about today’s or future generations as some school districts have been trying to rewrite or alter history for some time now. I though, remember as do most of my generation.

Yesterday we had a meeting with the college counselor at school. It was a good meeting as we now know how to handle her. Basically we need to interrupt her and keep her on topic and all is good. This morning at 8:30 Ty has Deb for 90 minutes. Lori’s head has been killing her. She needs an injection or massage or something as it’s been pretty bad lately.

My three Partner’s are in Germany for meetings with a Company that wants to team up with us. We’ll see what happens. I stayed here to hold down the fort. Hope all is going well. We had a little rain yesterday and it was a little cloudy but not bad. We did go to the Westin but it was too cold to swim for Lori and I. Jag did hit the pool which is salt water and then the hot tub.

It’s 5:32 am now so time to feed the pups and take them up the hill. Hope you all are well. Take care and God Bless.

Off or not off?

Today is Lori’s day off but is she really off? She always has some work to do but we also have a full day of “other work” to do here. At 9 am we’re meeting with Jag’s college counselor at school, we have some cleaning and decluttering to do around her, Ty has some work to do as he starts with his tutor Deb tomorrow and the dogs will need a walk or two up the hill. Throw in a trip at 7 am to the gym and you see what I mean.

I was in Denver yesterday and it looked a little dark by the time I left but it was nice up here. Tommy commented how the blog the other day wished for more rain for them. I went back and read it, ha, too funny.

I did get our insurance company to finally pay for our water leak. Hope our rates don’t go up but they probably will. The dogs had breakfast and have been out and are now laying around. We need to leave for the gym in 15 minutes so time to go. Have a great day, take care, be safe and God Bless.

Busy as always

Tuesday is clinic, I’m in Denver, Jag has an ortho appointment and Ty has something, just not sure what.

I guess Denver has had rain and storms every day but it’s been nice up here. Hope it stays that way. The bulldozers were moving dirt yesterday as one of Jag’s friends and our soon to be neighbors sent him a photo saying our house is almost ready for us to move in, ha.

I need to get down valley and take some pictures. The dogs are playing tug of war with one of their new toys and both boys are of course sleeping. It’s 7 am so time for us to get moving. I need to meet a sales rep from Colorado Springs at 9:45 at Park Meadows. Have a good day, GB.
