Before dinner last night, we had been here exactly 30 hours. Looking back, man did we get a lot done. Yesterday we did some woodworking around the house, made it to Super Target, Lowes, went to a furniture store, where we found a couch and a dresser, and I arranged to get same day delivery, and had the couch and dresser delivered. All in all, a big day.
A few weeks ago, Lori found a wood mantle on Facebook for sale and bought it for $50! Jag has a wood burning fireplace, but it looked off without a mantle. She found this and after a little sawing and sanding, we made it fit almost perfectly. I also bought some walnut wood trim and cut and fit it to the floor between the living room and the kitchen as there was a lip or edge where you’d stub your toe and could trip. It turned out really well and I think it’s the coolest thing I did the whole trip.
Next up was dinner at Boka. It was hands down the best dinner we might have ever had, and we’ve had some really incredible experiences in our life! It’s literally worth flying to Chicago just to eat there, if you can get in. I had no idea it would be this good. They treated us like royalty as Jag’s place is exactly above the main dining room. Not a lot of people have an in at any Michelin Star restaurant, but now, we do. They told me they’d get me in, any day, any time, I like. Super cool. I’ll post pics tomorrow as I could do 3 pages on all the amazing food alone. Jag and I split the whole duck which was better than words can describe. The best thing was probably this caviar in an eggshell thing that we didn’t order and the chef sent out for us. The shell was cut off a third of the way down and inside was a mix of some emulsion of cream, maple syrup I think, and diced cucumber with golden osteria caviar. Out of this World. We were talking about how many people never get to experience a Michelin Star chef in their whole life! I said if I couldn’t afford to go, I’d save up all year for just one meal like this. It was that good.
We fly out at 6:15 tonight and land in Denver around 8 and then will drive up to Eagle. Great trip, super fun and Lincoln Park is one of the coolest city’s in the Country. We’re super happy for Jag as he’s doing great and his place is super cool.
Ty is running a 10K at the Go Pro Games in Vail at 8 this morning! How cool is that! We’re really proud of his total transformation, inside and out.
That’s it, time to get moving as I’d like to find a tv stand and table and chairs today before we leave. And yes, the Ruben sandwich at the deli next door, is freaking amazing! (think I mentioned that yesterday). I’m ordering a couple for the plane.
Here’s a few pics of Jag’s place.
Until tomorrow, God Bless.
The mantle and his new tv and rug. Below is the new couch.
